Haiti - Economy : Monitoring of the fluidity of bilateral trade at the border

On Friday, August 25, Louis Gerald from Ouanaminthe customs and Josué Diaz from Dajabón customs met to discuss measures aimed at the fluidity of trade at the border with the support of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and the members of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT).

During this meeting, the two men agreed to avoid blockages and make trade more fluid, secure bilateral transactions and strengthen surveillance by doubling the number of members of CESFRONT on the Dominican border and of the PNH of the other side of the border bridge that separates the two countries are effective measures.

This measure aims to prevent incidents as well as the entry of ill-intentioned individuals who could hinder commercial activities, as was the case at other border market points where activities had to be suspended.

These two provisions put in place were welcomed by businessmen, small traders and buyers from both countries, who saw their investments guaranteed during the binational market last weekend between Haitians and Dominicans.
