Haiti - Reconstruction : Call for Proposals from REEEP of energy projects in Haiti

The Organization of American States (OAS), which acts as the Regional Secretariat of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), is announcing this institution's Eighth Program Cycle within the framework of which it will support up to three projects that accelerate development through energy access for the poor in one or more of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The OAS will review, evaluate and make recommendations on funding proposals received and will oversee the projects funded in Haiti.

The guidelines for applying will take into account the proposals' focus on finance and business challenges of energy access for the most vulnerable sectors in OFID priority countries, which include all Least Developed Countries (LDCs); have a minimum of 50 percent co-financing to be eligible for support, that the projects are income-generating and sustainable after the completion, and that they go beyond just electricity needs to address thermal and mechanical energy requirements.

The initiative is intended to support projects that accelerate development through energy access for the poor in a Least Developed Country. Proposals should target the reduction of energy poverty and include solutions with direct links to income generation. All forms of energy generation and efficiency will be considered.

Financial institutions, private sector entities, non-governmental organizations and energy regulators are invited to participate in this call, which closes October 21, 2011; a final selection will be published on January 31, 2012. The project implementation will begin on February 1, 2012.

Proposals should be sent to the email address ofidcall [@] reeep.org . For additional information on this call for proposals, please consulty the website : ofid-reeep-call.reeep.org
