Haiti - Education : «We are reinventing hope» says Minister Manigat

Lesly Manigat, the Minister of National Education, in the presence of the Directors General Jean Ronald Joseph of the National Fund for Education (FNE) and Hervé Boursiquot of the National Education Partnership Office (ONAPE), Renan Michel Coordinator of the Support Center and Jacques Ronald Jean Director of the Training Center for Basic Schools (CFEF) launched a series of training courses for technicians from the Directorate of Planning and External Cooperation (DPCE).

This series of training courses, which will take place until the end of 2023 and throughout 2024, aims to further equip DPCE technicians and executives, so that they can better contribute to revitalizing the Statistics and Analysis Department, the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, and the Studies and Plan Department.

According to details from Khadim Sylla, Coordinator of the Education sector at the UNESCO office in Haiti, these training courses will have practical content and will address the concerns of the Ministry, particularly those relating to the school census, the unique identifier of the student, school and teacher, but also the use of digital technology.

The Minister announced that in 2024, i.e. 9 years after the last school survey, the MENFP will produce a school directory which will serve as a dashboard for any Minister of National Education. "We are reinventing hope, by initiating this series of training for ministry executives," said Manigat, who welcomed the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to this initiative.

In addition, he indicated that this year, the Ministry intends to assign a unique identifier to each student, to each teacher, to each school in the Republic.

Manigat thanked other partners including UNICEF who have supported, over the last two weeks, the Departmental Directorate of Education of the South, school by school, in the collection of data relating to the class training list, the list of parents and the list of teachers in the classroom "The three "E" namely : the list of students, the list of schools, and the list of teachers will soon be a reality", welcomed the Minister.
