Bloody land conflict, dozens killed

Several dozen people were reportedly killed and others injured and many houses were set on fire, as part of a violent land conflict in Fonds-Baptiste, 2nd communal section of Arcahaie. This information was confirmed by the interim executive agent of Arcahaie, Jean Edner Gilles. While reports indicate around fifty deaths, the communications manager of the municipal civil protection committee affirms that the toll would be heavier.

Threat of strike among standing Magistrates

In a correspondence addressed to the Minister of Justice and Public Security Emmelie Prophète Milcé, the Collectif des Magistrates Debout d'Haïti (COMADH) threatens to enter a strike from Monday, November 20, 2023, in the 5 courts of appeal, the 18 Courts of First Instance (TPI) and the special labor court. The Collective of Standing Magistrates demands social benefits and denounces the discrimination to which they are subject compared to seated magistrates (magistrate pronouncing court decisions).
