The certificate award ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary of State for Literacy and Non-Formal Education, Sandra Michel Jacques Saint-Georges; the deputy to the DDE-West Frantz Jean; the Director of Fundamental Education, Kendy Nicolas; the Director of Training and Development Georges Wilbert Franck and the national education officer at the UNESCO Office in Port-au-Prince, Jean-Luc Tondrea among others… This three-day training course was entirely dedicated to the development of educational sheets relating to the ministry's accelerated programs for the fundamental level. It was led by Renette Lorméus Joseph, Céus Salomom, Louis Wesly and Saintil Acelhomme from the Directorate of Basic Education (DEF), Fleury Ansy Training Center for Basic Schools (CFEF) and Martha François from the Office of the Secretary of State for Literacy and Non-Formal Education, under the coordination of Saintony Jeudy (DEF). During their speech, they welcomed this training activity organized by the Ministry with the support of UNESCO and UNICEF, aimed at transforming the Haitian education sector. The Secretary of State congratulated the beneficiaries of this session which allowed them to strengthen their cognitive skills, something necessary to be able to better accomplish their mission. She promised to continue with the Directorate of Fundamental Education, to work to resume this training in other departmental education directorates, with a view to better supervision of those who run the Evening Centers. She underlined the importance of the rapprochement between the Office of the Secretary of State for Literacy and Non-formal Education and the Directorate of Basic Education which, she believes, "facilitates positive progress , in terms of actions undertaken in the non-formal education sub-sector." As for the deputy director of the Western Departmental Education Directorate (DDEO), Frantz Jean, while being aware of the difficult situation in which the Evening Centers are operating, said he believes that these opportunities allow us to think about the revitalization of these educational institutions at the level of the West department. Jean-Luc Tondrea, the national education officer at the UNESCO Office in Port-au-Prince, said "I think that all this is done for the benefit of learners" while pleading for much more attention to the Centers of the evening. ![]() HL/ HaitiLibre
