A PNH armored vehicle partly burned

Friday December 8, 2023, an armored vehicle of the Haitian National Police (PNH) was partly set on fire using Molotov cocktails thrown by armed individuals who control the Mariani district. The armored vehicle immobilized by the mud was partially set on fire. The police officers who were inside the vehicle responded and pushed the attackers away in order to avoid the worst. The police officers who were inside the armored vehicle were rescued by reinforcements dispatched to the scene. Remember that the police have been carrying out an operation for several days to try to dislodge the bandits in Mariani. Several bandits were killed while a police officer was killed as part of this operation.

The United Kingdom sanctions 2 former senior officials

The Montana Group rejects the CARICOM draft agreement

The Montana group rejected the draft agreement submitted by the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group. It criticizes the partisan nature of the document which, according to him, does not aim to keep Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry in office for a new mandate of 18 months.

Taiwan : field day for 100 farmers

The Technical Mission of Taiwan (Republic of China) in Haiti organized a field day, with a total of 100 participants, in the Poteau area (South Dept.) The training emphasized the production of high quality seeds, the control of the irrigation system, fertilization applications and use of the tiller on land preparations. Field visits were also organized to understand methods of purification and plot management, in order to improve theoretical and practical experience.

New Swiss ambassador to Haiti

The Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Rita Hämmerli-Weschke presented her "Cabinet Letter" to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Victor Géneus in order to obtain her accreditation as Ambassador of Switzerland to Haiti. During this meeting, Minister Géneus stressed that Switzerland's work in Haiti was highly appreciated, particularly the cooperation projects in the South.
