VISA Brazil closed due to insecurity

VISA : information on making an appointment

The Visa Application Reception Center for Brazil operated by IOM informs the general public that appointments for the VITEMIII humanitarian visa can only be made on the website: ( https://via.iom.int/appointment/booking/cavb ). Many people use the email address available for family reunification. Some try to make an appointment with the IOM outside Haiti. These alternatives will not make it easier to make an appointment. The technical team continues to work to facilitate the resumption of service. We therefore ask you to wait a little. We apologize for this situation which impacts appointment scheduling.

A member of the Bel-Air gang arrested by the PAP Police

Romain Jean Chrisilhomme, 32, was arrested by the Port-au-Prince Police, yesterday Tuesday January 9, 2024, around 8am, on Street St Honoré, for his alleged involvement in organized crime. Originally from Grand-Goâve, West department, Romain Jean Chrisilhomme, is one of the drivers of the Bel-Air gang leader, named Kempes Sanon. For the moment, he is being held in custody while awaiting the necessary legal action.

Popular justice : 6 fewer bandits

"Granmoun pa jwe" or "Sachè nwa", gang leader in the locality of Métivier (Fort-Jacques), was killed on January 8, 2024, by members of the Fort-Jacques vigilance brigade. The latter also allegedly killed 5 of his acolytes including 3 active gang members and 2 scouts. They were all part of the "kraze baryè" gang led by the name Vitelhomme Innocent.

Taiwan continues to fund the "KORE PEP" program

Taiwan supports the Haitian government's "KORE PEP" program executed by the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) in order to contribute to the social stability of the country and lay the foundations for the return of democratic institutions as soon as conditions are met. Ambassador Wen-Jiann KU recently visited the "PANYE SOLIDARITE" food kit production center and presented a new tranche of funding for the continuation of the program.
