Haiti - Survey : Pessimistic economic outlook for the year 2024

The Economic and Financial Barometer (BEF) is a periodic survey by ProEco Haiti which collects the opinions, elements of understanding and anticipation of economic agents in relation to certain key variables of the Haitian economy.

Summary, key figures :

Overall, the outlook of Haitian economic, finance and public policy professionals surveyed regarding the economic environment in 2024 is pessimistic:

• 78.7% of professionals surveyed are pessimistic regarding the economic situation of Haiti in 2024. Respondents state that they do not believe in an improvement in the overall economic situation of the country in 2024.

• 82.6% of professionals responding to the survey agree that insecurity and political uncertainty will be the main obstacles to the growth of the Haitian economy in 2024.

• 75.2% of professionals anticipate rising inflation for the year 2024.

• 47.7% of professionals expect the Gourde to depreciate against the US dollar in 2024.

• 83.5% of professionals believe that security or the fight against insecurity should be the government's main priority in 2024.
