Haiti - Justice : Appointment of 11 new magistrates

Monday January 29, 2024, 8 new judges were appointed to the Court of First Instance (TPI) of several jurisdictions, announced Me Jean Fallières Bazelais, Director General of the Ministry of Justice in a correspondence addressed to the Superior Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ)

List of nominations:

1- Citizen Ferry BERNARD is appointed Judge of the Court of First Instance of the Grande Rivière du Nord;

2- Citizen Jonès SURPRIS is appointed Judge of the Court of First Instance of Saint-Marc;

3- Citizen Jean Tilma TILFA is appointed Judge of the Court of First Instance of Côteaux;

4- Citizen Marie Jalise NORD is appointed Judge of the Special Labor Court;

5- Citizen Luidmyrla Ninon JOSEPH is appointed Judge of the seat of the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince;

6- Citizens Pierre Richclet JOSEPH and Jean Snlomon COUDO are appointed Judges of the Court of First Instance of Les Cayes;

7- Citizen Sony DORANTE is appointed Judge of the Court of First Instance of Aquin.

Furthermore, in a separate correspondence that same day, the Ministry of Justice also informed the CSPJ of the appointment of 3 investigating judges to the Court of First Instance of Jacmel:

Mr Jacky JEAN

Me Anofaine MAITRE

Appointments which delighted the Professional Association of Magistrates (APM) which however encourages the CSPJ to work with the Executive with a view to renewing the expiring mandate of judges as soon as possible.
