Representative of the December 21 agreement finally known

The signatories of the December 21 Agreement (in power) finally agreed on the person who will represent them on the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). BRH assault foiled

Monday March 18, 2024 around 6:00 p.m. heavily armed individuals attempted in vain to storm the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) but were repelled by bank security agents and police officers deployed to reinforce protection of the building. No Catholic representative on the Transitional Council

The Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH), which brings together the bishops of the Catholic Church in Haiti, has not mandated any person to represent the Catholic Church within the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). The CEH in a note said it made this decision "to be able to maintain the moral distance which allows it to fulfill its prophetic mission" while wishing to see the current negotiations result in "a true inclusive and lasting patriotic understanding" for the benefit of Haitians.

PNH : Foreigners intercepted in the South then released

Sunday March 17, 2024, the police of Anse-à-Pitre and Marigot, intercepted several people including foreign nationals who were on board Quad before being released a few moments later "These foreigners were trying to return to their countries of origin passing through the Dominican Republic" said Allan Serge Jolicoeur Departmental Director of the South-East of the PNH, stressing that 3 firearms in the possession of foreigners were seized by the police.

Towards an extension of the TPS ?

Monday, March 18, Senator Edward J. Markey and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, co-chair of the House Haiti Caucus, as well as House Haiti Caucus co-chairs Yvette Clarke and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick called on the Biden administration to extend TPS for Haiti and to put an end to the expulsions of Haitian nationals.
