Haiti - Security : Important meeting with the Board of the Inter-American Defense College

Ambassador Gandy Thomas, Acting Representative of Haiti to the Organization of American States (OAS), accompanied by Advisors Pierre Michel Bonnet and Sherlo Antoine of the Permanent Mission of Haiti to the OAS, participated in a working session with the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Defense College (CID) on strengthening the scientific and technical capacities of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H)

The discussions focused on the academic programs of the CID and the possibility that a dozen Haitian students : executives from the FAd'H, the PNH, the Jean Price Mars Diplomatic Academy, the Ministries of the Interior, Defense, Foreign Affairs and Justice as well as the Prime Minister's Office, will be part of the next CID promotion (master's and bachelor's degrees) whose recruitment process will be launched during the month of September 2024.

Ambassador Gandy Thomas also met with the Director of the CID, General Richard Heitkamp, ​​and several members of this prestigious institution, on the development of closer relations between the College and the Ministry of Defense.

Initiatives could be taken at the highest level, in the coming days, on the contribution that the CID, through its reflections and academic research, could make to the resolution of the security crisis in Haiti.
