Haiti - Security : The advance guard of Jamaica and Belize has arrived (Video)

Thursday, September 12, 2024, as announced by Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness on September 10 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43179-haiti-flash-d-1-pre-deployment-of-jamaica.html an advance guard of 20 soldiers and 4 police officers from the Jamaican contingent out of the 200 men promised as well as 2 men from Belize, aboard a US Coast Guard plane, landed at Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

Rameau Normil, the Acting Commander of the Haitian National Police (PNH), accompanied by his Chief of Staff Inspector General Péyo Smith; the Chief Inspector General, Frantz Thermilus as well as Godfrey Otunge, Commander of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS), welcomed the new arrivals on the airport tarmac.

This first Group of CARICOM countries, in addition to its reinforcement to the Mission, must also help establish the command structure to prepare for new deployments.

Otunge addressed the media and welcomed the men of CARICOM while urging the contributing countries that have not yet deployed to do so quickly.
