Haiti - Delmas 2 : The multinational mission establishes its third forward base

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Multinational Mission to Support the Haitian National Police (PNH) established its third forward operating base (FOB), in the building of the Office of the Inspectorate General of the Haitian National Police (IGPNH) in Delmas 2

This is the 3rd forward operating base after those set up at the Police Academy and in Pont-Sondé.

This building, built with the support of the Canadian and American governments, had fallen into an advanced state of disrepair. Years of attacks and vandalism by gangs had left it in a lamentable condition.

Upon their arrival, the Mission and the PNH were accompanied by contractors tasked with restoring the building to its original condition. Attempts by the gangs to disrupt the installation of this new base were quickly and firmly repelled.

This Forward Operating Base at IGPNH is a critical resource in the fight against gang activity in the region. It will serve as a strategic support hub, improving response times in key areas such as the National Port, the Delmas neighborhood, and the vulnerable coastline.

With this base, the MMSS aims to bring security closer to citizens, especially in light of the recent attacks in Solino and Delmas. At the same time, we urge residents to remain vigilant and continue to demonstrate resilience, as demonstrated by their determination to continue their daily lives despite recent security challenges.
