Haiti - Security : Attempted theft of electrical equipment from Taiwan

The Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) General Headquarters informs that two individuals, identified as Carlo Tity and Mackendy, attempted to enter the premises of the Organization for Electrification and Cooperation of the Caribbean (OECC), in Tabarre, where electrical equipment managed by Taiwanese technicians in collaboration with Electricité d'Haïti (EDH) are stored. The soldiers of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) responsible for the security of the site quickly intercepted and subdued these two individuals.

Alerted by the civilian security agents placed on the site by the Taiwanese side, the Taiwanese Embassy in Haiti immediately contacted the United States Embassy in Haiti, neighboring the premises, so that its security chief could assess the situation.

After investigation, it was established that the two burglars were part of the "Kraze Baryè" gang led by Chief Innocent Vitel'Homme. They were handed over to the Haitian National Police (PNH) for legal action.
