Haiti - FLASH : A second group of 75 Guatemalan soldiers has arrived

Saturday, January 4th, 2025, after the arrival the day before of a first group of 75 Guatemalan soldiers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43986-haiti-flash-first-reinforcements-from-guatemala-and-el-salvador-have-arrived-video.html a second group of 75 soldiers arrived aboard an American military plane at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, bringing to 150 the total number of the Guatemalan contingent that came to fight the armed gangs.

All the reinforcements come from the Guatemalan military police unit, the Guatemalan government said in a statement.

The new soldiers paraded on the tarmac carrying their country's flag. They then shouted their rallying slogan together before being welcomed by Godfrey Otunge, the Kenyan Commander of the Multinational Mission in Support of the Haitian National Police and the Deputy Commander Colonel Kevron Henry of the Jamaican Defense Force.

Godfrey Otunge welcomed the arrival of this new group which will increase the mission’s capacity to combat criminal groups. Commander Otunge said that the reign of armed gangs in Haiti will end in 2025. "We are ready and we will continue to be ready. The gangs will soon experience our full determination."

The MMSS workforce has increased by 36.5% in 48 hours and now has 590 police/military personnel (400 Kenyans, 150 Guatemalans, 8 Salvadorans, 6 Bahamians, 24 Jamaicans and 2 Belizeans) while waiting for Kenyan reinforcements of 600 men...
