Haiti - Social : Martelly dismayed by the departure of Sonia Pierre

Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, has learned with dismay the news of the disappearance of the Dominicans of Haitian descent Sonia Pierre, which occurred at the age of 48 years in the Dominican Republic, Sunday, December 4, 2011, as a result of a heart attack.

In these painful circumstances, the Head of State, on behalf of the Haitian people, welcomes the early departure of Ms. Pierre and extends his sympathies to relatives and friends of the deceased.

The President of the Republic and the Haitian people are very grateful for the heroic battle led by the activist Sonia Pierre since her youth for the defense of the rights of Haitian migrants in the Dominican Republic. Lawyer, the deceased had received the 2006 the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award.
