Haiti - Social : $50 million from the IDB to fight against food insecurity

The Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), to contribute to the fight against poverty in Haiti, recently launched a new program entitled : "Fighting food insecurity and promoting resilience through a safety net for vulnerable populations".

Intended for both urban and pre-urban areas, the interventions planned under this innovative program should ultimately benefit compatriots in the 10 departments.

In total, several tens of thousands of people living in 26 communes and 85 communal sections will be directly affected by the program's activities. Special attention will be paid to women and people with disabilities, through program components that respectively provide for between 40 and 60% of women and 5% of people living with disabilities as beneficiaries.

Financed to the tune of 50 million US dollars by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), this program will be spread over a period of 4 years.
