Haiti - Army : Strengthening of the FAd’H thanks to international cooperation

The Ministry of Defense announces significant progress in strengthening the Armed Forces of Haiti (FADH) through increased international cooperation.

A detachment of 25 FAd'H soldiers left the country on Saturday, February 22, 2025, for Martinique for a 2-week specialized training course within the 33rd Marine Infantry Regiment (RIMa). This initiative is part of defense cooperation between Haiti and France, with the aim of strengthening the operational skills of Haiti's security forces. This is the second cohort of Haitian soldiers to go to this French overseas territory as part of this program after a first in November 2014 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-43587-icihaiti-martinique-intensive-training-of-haitian-soldiers-within-the-33rd-rima.html . "I highly appreciate the support of France and its Ambassador Antoine Michon in rebuilding our army. France provides valuable training to our troops," said Jean-Michel Moïse, Minister of Defense.

In addition, the Minister discussed cooperation with several other countries:

"Mexico also provides decisive support by training military personnel https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40580-haiti-mexico-113-fad-h-soldiers-trained-in-special-intervention-back-home.html and new recruits https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-43792-icihaiti-mexico-towards-a-modernization-of-the-military-capabilities-of-the-fad-h.html with exemplary commitment, and we express our deep gratitude to them.

Argentina is also actively participating in this effort by putting their military expertise at the service of our soldiers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38778-haiti-fad-h-4-haitian-scholarship-holders-begin-military-training-in-argentina.html

In addition, a major cooperation agreement has just been concluded with Colombia, marking a significant step forward in the development of our country's defense capabilities (PDF) https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/declaration-haiti-colombie-22-01-2025.pdf

The United States, for its part, is closely monitoring the security situation in Haiti and is also committed to supporting us. »

The Ministry of Defense reaffirms its commitment to providing the Haitian Armed Forces with the necessary means to defend the territorial integrity of Haiti and face current security challenges, emphasizing in conclusion, “These strategic partnerships demonstrate valuable international solidarity for the rise of the Haitian armed forces. »
