Haiti - Politic : PM receives the visit of a delegation of German parliamentarians

The Prime Minister (PM) Garry Conille received yesterday Thursday, December 8, 2011, in his official residence, the visit of the Commission for Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Chamber of Deputies. Led by the President of this ommission, Dagmar Vohrl, this delegation of six parliamentarians wanted to learn about the various projects of the government and how, in addition to humanitarian assistance, Germany can strengthen its cooperation with Haiti.

The Prime Minister Conille explained to the delegation the he priorities of his government by pointing out, among other things, the progress made in the process of strengthening the rule of law with the appointment of a President to the Court of Cassation ; investment projects in agriculture ; the efforts already undertaken to facilitate free access to classrooms to more than 750 000 children etc...

The head of government also informed the German deputies that in 2012 his administration plans to invest USD$5 million in vocational training. This investment will orient curricula to the needs of the market and investors. At this level, the delegation believes that Germany can be very helpful in Haiti since it has experience in this field.

the Prime Minister explained to the German parliamentarians that the main indicator of success for non-governmental organizations is their ability to move from assistantship towards a transfer skills to the local businesses. Mr. Conille invited the Germans to support this approach with friendly countries, to expand and strengthen cooperation with Haiti in the areas of the decentralization, the environment and the rule of law.

More than solutions predetermined, the Prime Minister advocated, in front of the German delegation, "the government's desire to create the necessary framework for a dialogue between the Haitian in order to identify a collective agenda of development of the country where each sector can play its role effectively."
