![]() Haiti - Economy : Economic inclusion project for vulnerable adults with disabilities 15/03/2025 09:26:37
The project aims to improve the situation of persons with disabilities in Haiti by providing them with economic opportunities and strengthening institutional capacities for more effective and sustainable inclusion. The project's development objective is to improve the economic and productive inclusion of vulnerable adults with disabilities in the Grande Anse department and Port-au-Prince. The project will provide selected persons with disabilities with access to inclusion programs specifically designed for them. These economic inclusion programs target the most vulnerable groups and typically include a combination of cash or in-kind transfers, vocational training, coaching, access to financing, and linkages to market support. Participants in the proposed project will benefit from a multi-pronged package of interventions and services designed to help people living in poverty with disabilities achieve greater socioeconomic independence and resilience. The project will also strengthen the capacity of the BSEIPH to play a greater role in the employment of people with disabilities and in supporting access to productive (self-)employment opportunities for people with special needs. Support will also be provided to selected Disabled People's Organizations (DPOs) to strengthen their advocacy capacity for economic inclusion. Some DPOs also provide various types of services to their members (health, education, microfinance, etc.). The majority of DPOs have legal status and pay legal registration fees to the BSEIPH and MAST. The project will only work with registered DPOs. The project aims to reach approximately 33 DPOs and 990 indirect beneficiaries, defined as members of these DPOs. The economic inclusion program will target a total of approximately 1,500 beneficiaries (half of whom will be women, 33% of whom will be young people aged 18 to 29) in the Grande Anse department. The project has three components: Component 1 : Capacity building and awareness raising to improve economic opportunities for adults with disabilities; Component 2 : Individualized Education Program (IEP) for persons with disabilities; Component 3 : Project management and administration, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge dissemination. The project implementation period will be three and a half years from the date of signing the financing agreement between MAST and the World Bank. The project will be managed and supervised by the BSEIPH. HL/ HaitiLibre
