Haiti - FLASH : Billions of Gourdes allocated for the PNH and the FAd’H

Jean-Michel Moïse, Haitian Minister of Defense, stated that the "Government takes public security very seriously [...] in the revised budget [...] approximately 31 billion gourdes in total are allocated for public security and defense.

"The truth is that there has been no serious investment in the army since its remobilization in 2017. The only 'makeshift' training camp was closed in Léogâne. Today, we are building a large, brand new training center in Tabarre that can accommodate 1,000 recruits. We had to start from scratch. That's why we have not yet begun the training of new recruits, which will begin soon."

The Minister stated that over the next six months, to strengthen Haiti's armed forces, 7.4 billion gourdes will be invested in recruiting new soldiers, military infrastructure, and equipment.

For his part, Bendgy Tilias, the Secretary of State for Communications, stated that nearly 12 billion gourdes will be invested for the benefit of the PNH and the FAd'H in the purchase of materials and equipment for the fight against armed gangs.
