Haiti - Politic : National Diaspora Day, message from the Minister

This Monday, April 20, 2025, National Diaspora Day, J.E. Kathia Verdier, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), extends her warmest greetings to all Haitians in the diaspora...

National Diaspora Day is much more than a symbol. It represents official recognition of the fundamental role the Haitian diaspora plays in building our country through its commitment, expertise, investments, and unwavering solidarity. The diaspora is a strategic pillar of national development, a living bridge between Haiti and the world.

This year, under the theme "Diaspora and Governance : Effective and Inclusive Participation" the MHAVE reaffirms its commitment to redefining the ties between the Haitian state and its diaspora. Our goal is clear : to guarantee every Haitian, wherever they are, a full and equal place in Haiti's transformation process.

Minister Verdier, on this day of celebration, reiterates her commitment to working towards :

• Justice and legality for Haitians living abroad;

• Active political participation of the diaspora;

• Support for economic and social projects led by our compatriots overseas;

• Protection of the rights and property of our compatriots.

On this April 20th, Haiti pays tribute to its sons and daughters scattered throughout the world, who, every day, proudly carry the colors of our culture, our courage, and our hope. May this day be a moment of pride, reflection, and collective mobilization for a more just, more inclusive Haiti, resolutely focused on the future.
