Looting of the Mirebalais University Hospital
On Friday, June 13, armed bandits from "Viv Ansanm" began looting the Mirebalais University Hospital (HUM), a pillar of the national healthcare system, built at a cost of $16 million (excluding equipment). They took with them sophisticated, valuable equipment and devices to unknown destinations. The HUM, with a capacity of 320 beds, has six operating rooms, an outpatient clinic, twelve consultation rooms, a laboratory, a pharmacy, administrative offices, a malnutrition ward, and an HIV clinic.

Departure of U.S. Ambassador Hankins
The U.S. Embassy in Haiti welcomes the departure of Ambassador Dennis Hankins. We are grateful for his unwavering dedication to the United States and his support for Haiti. The Embassy team wishes him well in his retirement after more than 40 years of distinguished service as a career diplomat. Message from Ambassador Hankins: “As my time as Ambassador comes to a close, I wish to take a moment to express my gratitude to the Haitian people. From my first visit to Haiti in 1991 to my time as Ambassador, I will take with me the hospitality and warmth of the people, as well as the richness of Haitian culture. Toward a Digital Identity
Thanks to the biometric National Identity Card (CIN) and a strengthened digital system, more than 6.2 million citizens are now identified. The National Identification Office (ONI) soon plans to extend registration to children as young as 5 and launch a national digital identity, a decisive step forward.
