Artibonite : La Chapelle Attacked

La Chapelle, a commune in the Artibonite department in the Saint-Marc district, was attacked on the evening of Sunday, June 22, 2025, by heavily armed men from the "Taliban" gang, active in Canaan and affiliated with the Viv ansanm terrorist coalition. Around 7:00 p.m., the population panicked following intense automatic weapons fire. The bandits set fire to several buildings, including the police station, which they subsequently demolished during the night. Homes and businesses were looted and vandalized. The police attempted to resist, but outnumbered and outgunned, they were forced to retreat. According to initial reports, several people were reportedly injured by gunfire.

FAES is increasing its community projects

As part of initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable communities, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) recently began building a retaining wall in the "Devan Bonn" area on the Port-Salut road to prevent the risk of landslides. This project, carried out under the close supervision of the Association of Volunteers for International Service (AVSI), an operator specializing in community outreach, provided employment to 84 heads of household, allowing them to increase their income.
