Last week, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé chaired the second session of the Steering Committee of the Joint Support Program for the Haitian National Police (PNH), which focuses on strengthening the institutional, technical, and material capacities of law enforcement.

Held at the Montana Hotel, this session brought together representatives of bilateral and multilateral partners : the United States, Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, and Mexico, among others, as well as the highest authorities of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and experts from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The Prime Minister praised the international community's unwavering commitment to restoring a secure and republican order, stating, "The fight against insecurity is our top priority. We must provide the PNH with the human, material, and institutional resources essential to its republican mission."

Beyond the evaluation of ongoing projects, including the modernization of police stations, tactical equipment, and officer training, the Head of Government reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to a definitive end to the security crisis. He reiterated that these efforts are part of a broader roadmap :

1. Restoration of security and social peace throughout the country;

2. Implementation of the constitutional referendum to strengthen the legitimacy of our institutions;

3. Organization of free, fair, and democratic elections, the ultimate guarantee of popular sovereignty.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, María Isabel Salvador, and Xavier Michon, UNDP Resident Representative, welcomed the progress made while calling for increased financial support to ensure safe access to vulnerable areas. Inspector General Jean Gardy Muscadin and Chief Inspector General Péyo Smith emphasized the importance of rigorous and transparent oversight, adapted to the realities on the ground.

The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating his determination : "We will spare no effort to ensure effective and sustainable security. The Government is determined to lead the country toward credible elections, the true culmination of our commitment to Haitian democracy."
