Haiti - FLASH : Colombia will train 1,000 FAd’H soldiers

Since taking office in November 2024, Jean-Michel Moïse, Minister of Defense, has stepped up efforts to strengthen the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H), convinced that their mission is essential to Haiti's sovereignty and security, emphasizing modernization and international cooperation.

The visit to Haiti by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, accompanied by his Minister of Defense, Pedro Arnulfo Sanchez Suarez, confirmed the successful conclusion of negotiations regarding enhanced collaboration, particularly in terms of military training.

Although no agreement was signed on Friday, July 19, Colombia, responding favorably to Minister Moïse's approach, has committed to training 1,000 recruits for the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) in the coming months (pending the official signing of an agreement).

Furthermore, Minister Moïse confirmed the upcoming departure of 150 new FAd'H recruits for Mexico, where they will receive high-level training.

This dynamic regional partnership, also including Panama and other allied nations, aims to provide Haiti with a modern, better-equipped, better-trained, efficient, and fully operational army.

"Our young men and women are proud to serve their country in the army. They will soon be responsible for ensuring our security. We will do everything possible to strengthen our armed forces. We pay tribute to their sacrifices and their commitment to serving the nation. The Haitian Armed Forces are eternal," declared Minister Moïse.
