The Ministry of National Education informs the public in general, and the educational community in particular, that the start of the school year for the 2025-2026 academic year is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.

According to the Ministry's planning, the academic year includes 186 school days and 11 days off. The total number of school days is 844 hours for preschool, 930 hours for elementary education, and 1,116 hours for secondary education.

In accordance with the Government's Roadmap, the Ministry intends to undertake a series of priority actions in the short and medium terms. These actions aim to provide support to parents and struggling public and private schools, primarily in the Departmental Education Directorates of the West, Center, and Artibonite regions.

Over the long term, the Ministry intends to pursue certain projects relating, among others, to preschool education, curriculum reform, accelerated development of the technological education sector, pedagogical consolidation of the four new basic education subjects, strengthening the management of national schools and high schools, accreditation of private schools, completion of the school census, rehabilitation and construction of schools, reclamation of school sites occupied by internally displaced persons, continuing teacher training, expansion of school canteens, distribution of the Single Book https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37084-haiti-education-introduction-of-the-single-book-at-the-next-school-year.html , and continued dialogue with social partners and trade unions. The Ministry continues to rely on the support of the Government and local authorities, as well as the collaboration of partners and stakeholders in the education system, to ensure the success of the 2025-2026 academic year.
