Haiti - Elections : The electoral decree unanimously adopted by the Council of Ministers.

On Monday, December 1st, Laurent Saint Cyr, President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), chaired the Council of Ministers, in the presence of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, members of the Transitional Council, and members of the Government.

This adoption constitutes a decisive step in the CPT's commitment to organizing elections, despite the notable absence of Councilors Fritz Alphonse Jean, Edgard Leblanc Fils, and Leslie Voltaire (who support the Prime Minister's resignation).

"I congratulate my colleagues on the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and the Government for the Council of Ministers meeting this Monday, December 1st, which ratifies major decisions for the country, including the adoption of the Electoral Decree. We must finally offer the Haitian people the opportunity to freely and responsibly choose those who will lead them. By taking this decisive step, while remaining fully committed to restoring security, we reaffirm our commitment to putting Haiti back on the path to democratic legitimacy and stability," declared Laurent Saint Cyr.

Prime Minister Fils-Aimé and members of the Government strongly emphasized their determination to implement "all necessary measures to guarantee a transparent, inclusive, and secure electoral process." The adopted decree precisely defines the procedures, deadlines, and mechanisms essential for the country to quickly elect its representatives, thus consolidating the foundations of democracy.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the course is now clearly set : "The absolute priority is the organization of elections. All State resources will be mobilized to achieve this objective. The publication of the Electoral Decree in Le Moniteur, the official gazette of the Republic of Haiti, constitutes a strong signal to the nation and the international community for a return to fully democratic governance."

The official publication of the Electoral Decree will allow the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to publish the electoral calendar in the official gazette, "Le Moniteur".

The Council of Ministers concluded by affirming that the path to elections is "irreversible" and that the government will continue its cooperation with all national institutions and partners "in order to scrupulously respect the electoral calendar."
