Haiti - FLASH : Artibonite, Emergency Appeal for Help from SPNH-17

SPNH-17, the Police Union, has received several emergency calls from officers reporting that more than 50% of the department would be under the control of armed gangs. "The population cannot live, cannot work, cannot move about. Artibonite, the breadbasket of the country, is sinking before everyone’s eyes."

The Police Union is calling on the Presidential Transitional Council, the Superior Council of the National Police, Vladimir Paraison, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), the Central Directorate of Administrative Police, and the Artibonite Departmental Directorate, "[...] to stop standing by and watch the country being destroyed and to launch a large-scale, coordinated operation using all available tactical resources :

• Helicopters to strike gang bases;

• Boats to secure the coastline from Montrouis to L’Estère;

• Special units to liberate Pont Sondé, Gonaïves, Gros Morne, Montrouis, and other blockaded areas living in terror.

"Despite the presence of Kenyan bases in Pont Sondé, bandits killed and burned several people on November 29, 2025 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46329-haiti-news-zapping.html . This is clear proof that resources are insufficient [...]" states SPNH-17, adding, "Artibonite must not fall into the hands of gangs. It is the breadbasket of the country. It is the heart of Haiti. It is where the country’s food comes from !"
