Haiti - Tourism : Presentation of the «iKat» digital embarkation and disembarkation card project

On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, at the El Rancho Hotel, under the leadership of Prime Minister Fils-Aimé, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) officially launched the pilot project for the new digital boarding and disembarking card, named "iKat".

This ceremony was held in the presence of representatives from the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of the Interior, Ms. J.E. Kathia Verdier, Minister for Haitians Living Abroad, John Herrick Dessources, Minister of Tourism, DIE staff, technical and financial partners, as well as representatives from travel agencies, airlines, and other key figures in the sector.

Developed in collaboration with the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI), the presentation of the "iKat" project marks a crucial step toward modernizing and securing migration practices. This virtual card will gradually replace the traditional physical card with a pre-established digital subscription, allowing travelers to complete their form online 72 hours in advance.

The "iKat" project aims to optimize the management and control of migration flows within Haiti. Specifically, it will allow to :

• Ensure better support for travelers;

• Strengthen migration flow control through digitized and centralized information;

• Provide authorities with the means to conduct pre- and post-entry monitoring;

• Produce reliable statistics and create a consolidated database, essential for tracking foreigners remaining in the country beyond the legal 90-day period.

Furthermore, the "iKat" will provide the DIE with a faster and more efficient tool for authenticating and analyzing the stays of foreign passengers, thanks to reliable and interconnected data that can be shared with partner institutions.
