Haiti - Marathon for Peace : The Haitian National Police facilitates the return of citizens to the Champ de Mars

The Haitian National Police (PNH), through its Community Educational Police (EduPOL) program and with the support of the Brazilian international NGO Viva Rio, organized a marathon on Sunday, December 21, 2025, to promote peace and social cohesion.

The starting points for this sporting event were located at Place Boyer, the Airport intersection, and Delmas 83, with the finish line at Champ de Mars in Port-au-Prince. The event brought together various categories of participants : children, young women and men, as well as people with reduced mobility, illustrating the inclusive nature of the initiative.

The closing ceremony took place at the Occide Jeanty bandstand, in the presence of Transitional Councilor Edgard Leblanc Fils, Acting Commander-in-Chief of the PNH, Vladimir Paraison, and other civil and police authorities.

Prizes were awarded to the winners in each category.

It is worth noting that a significant security presence was deployed by the Haitian National Police (PNH) throughout the event to ensure its smooth running and the safety of participants. No significant incidents were reported.

Through this event, the PNH reaffirms its commitment to bringing the police closer to the public, encouraging citizens to return to the Champ de Mars after several years of absence due to the security situation, and promoting a culture of peace within Haitian society.
