Haiti - FLASH : Major seizure of weapons and ammunition in Bel-Air

On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, as part of the ongoing fight against insecurity, the Haitian National Police (PNH) conducted a large-scale operation in the Bel-Air neighborhood. Targeting the stronghold of gang leader Jamesley, the operation resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the seizure of an impressive arsenal. Unfortunately, Jamesley managed to escape.

The seized equipment was varied and included a Mavic surveillance drone, handguns (9mm and .22mm pistols), assault weapons (an M16 rifle, a Kalashnikov rifle, 9mm submachine guns), and three 12-gauge shotguns. The operation also yielded logistical equipment (gun magazines, radios, batteries, etc...) and bladed weapons (machetes, axes, etc...)

The most significant seizure involved ammunition. Several thousand rounds of ammunition were recovered, including 4,094 rounds of 5.56mm caliber and 867 rounds of 7.62mm caliber, demonstrating a significant capacity for harm. The entire arsenal was formally registered and certified by the Weapons Service of the PNH's Logistics Directorate.

This operation represents a significant success for the PNH. The operation, supported by specialized units, neutralized a portion of the armed group's logistics. Although leader Jamesley managed to escape, his operational capabilities were severely impacted by the seizure of the equipment. Jamesley's house was completely destroyed by the PNH's heavy equipment unit.

The PNH's objective remains unchanged : to track down, dismantle, and definitively eradicate criminal groups in order to restore security, public peace, and the authority of the State for the well-being of all citizens.
