Haiti - Health : More than twenty ambulances repaired and put back into service 25/01/2026 08:47:33
Since 2025, the National Ambulance Center (CAN) has been leading a large-scale nationwide mobilization to get numerous ambulances back on the road due to mechanical breakdowns. This initiative, launched under the leadership of Renand Aristide, Director General of CAN, in conjunction with Leconte Dor, the Administrative and Financial Director, aims to ensure that all departments in the country continue to benefit from rapid, efficient, and functional emergency services. Concrete results by region : Great South : This mobilization has enabled the repair and maintenance of more than ten ambulances immobilized by mechanical breakdowns, thanks to the repairs and thorough maintenance carried out by the CAN technical team. Northern Region : - Northwest : On the orders of the central administration, a team of four mechanics, led by Carlo Mompoint, Head of the CAN Garage, was deployed to the affected areas. More than eight ambulances that had been out of service for a long time have been repaired, and a new vehicle has been sent to the department to bolster the emergency fleet. - North and Fort-Liberté : The National Emergency Operations Center (CAN) repaired three ambulances suffering from major breakdowns, while similar interventions were carried out in Fort-Liberté to improve emergency response capacity. Mechanics working tirelessly, ambulances undergoing maintenance, and vehicles that were previously out of service are now back on the road to serve the population once again. HL/ HaitiLibre
