Haiti - Northwest : Launch of the U-15 and U-20 school sports games

The North-West Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (DDNO/MJSAC) carried out this week the official launch of the U-15 and U-20 school sports games.

Organized in front of the administrative complex housing the DDNO/MJSAC, the ceremony took place in front of administrative authorities, educational leaders, sports supervisors, parents and the public fond of sport and a large population who came to support the young athletes.

These competitions, which will highlight the potential of young athletes from the North-West, will involve 16 schools divided into four groups. The meetings will take place at Parc Capois-la-mort from February 26, 2026.

In his speech, Destima Raymond Fedner, the North-West Departmental Director of the MJSAC, underlined the importance of school sport as a lever for development, social cohesion and talent detection. According to him, the Government's commitment to promoting sports practice from an early age to build healthy, dynamic and responsible youth is now a reality.

The Ministry welcomed this initiative which contributes to the development of youth, in accordance with the Latin adage of the Roman poet Juvenal (end of the 1st century) mens sana in corpore sano (a healthy mind in a healthy body).

Through these games, the Ministry reaffirms its desire to make sport an essential pillar of local development, a driver of integration and a vector of social peace and also a framework for learning and fraternity between the department's educational establishments.
