Haiti - Football : Towards strengthened collaboration between the MJSAC and the FHF 16/03/2026 10:05:19
On Friday, March 13, 2026, Pythagore Dumas, the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action, visited the headquarters of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF). The purpose of this visit was to establish initial contact with the FHF, with which the Ministry intends to collaborate closely to promote Haitian football. Received by Ms. Gally Amazan, a member of the FHF Normalization Committee, and Patrick Massenat, the FHF's Secretary General, Minister Dumas was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Innocent Joseph, and Jean Roland Dartiguenave, Coordinator of Sports Centers and Parks. These discussions laid the groundwork for strengthened cooperation between the two institutions. Taking advantage of this visit, Minister Dumas confirmed Prime Minister Fils-Aimé's commitment to doing everything possible to provide the senior men's national team with optimal preparation for its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "We mustn't assume that we're going to this World Cup just to play in the first round. At the government level, we hope to see the Grenadiers go much further, perhaps even to the final," the Minister stated. He reaffirmed his willingness to collaborate with the Federation and announced the establishment of a dedicated telephone line to address the Federation's needs for all national teams, across all age groups. Following a request from the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), the Minister pledged, on behalf of the Government, to facilitate the planned one-month training camp in Brazil for the men's under-17 national team, in preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026, scheduled for next November. Furthermore, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) informed the Minister that FIFA is working on opening four children's football pitches as part of its FIFA Arena project. This project aims to build more than 1,000 mini-pitches worldwide to provide children with equitable access to sport. The federation has already selected the four departments to host these facilities; the next step is to identify suitable locations. Finally, the Minister reiterated that Prime Minister Fils-Aimé, along with the entire government, is working tirelessly to restore national security, which will allow, among other things, our national teams to play their matches in true home stadiums in the future.
