The participation of Aubourg Marcelin, the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Rural Development, was a significant highlight of the second day of the agroforestry fair in Camp-Coq, Limbé (April 7-10, 2026).

From the outset, the Minister paid tribute to the agricultural producers of Limbé and Camp-Coq, whom he recognized as partners of the Ministry. This partnership is demonstrated, firstly, through the government's assistance to beneficiaries, particularly the provision of inputs and technical support, and secondly, by the farmers' evident enthusiasm during the fair.

The launch of the agroforestry fair lived up to expectations. On the first day, approximately 250 beneficiaries came to Camp Coq to purchase agricultural inputs, based on the size of their plots: for half a hectare, a farmer receives 500 yam seedlings, 400 banana suckers, and 250 sugarcane cuttings. Beneficiaries are free to choose their inputs from among a dozen suppliers present at the event.

Over four days, 1,093 beneficiaries are expected at this fair, which is being held at two different locations, Camp Coq and Acul Jeannot. Approximately 8,500 yam tubers, 3,500 banana suckers, and 4,000 sugarcane cuttings, from 49 different suppliers, will be distributed to Camp Coq beneficiaries who are duly registered in the program and have plots of land on which to plant the inputs they received.

Minister Marcelin strongly encouraged the beneficiaries to "produce food to feed themselves and sell their products on the market," fostering economic viability for their families. He stated that this would contribute to reducing food insecurity in households, in line with the Haitian government's mission.

In addition to these incentives, the Minister took the opportunity to highlight other components, particularly rural roads, within the framework of the Program to Support Agricultural and Fisheries Productivity and the Improvement of Rural Infrastructure for Market Access (PAPAIR). These rural roads are expected to facilitate access to markets in the municipality of Limbe. This component aims to rehabilitate 75 kilometers of roads in the North and Northeast. Under the supervision of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), work is underway thanks to funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

In the same vein, the Minister also announced that the PAPAIR program is also addressing post-harvest losses, estimated at 25%, as well as the availability of food stocks after harvests. To address this, the Minister cited as examples the ongoing distribution of drying racks, which will allow for the drying of crops, and water pumps for irrigating plantations.
