Haiti : Details on the new PNH administrative building in Les Cayes

As part of the Support Program for the Haitian National Police (PNH), with financial support from Canada, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) officially handed over a new administrative building (230 m² on 2 levels) to the Southern Departmental Directorate (DDS). The building includes more than 10 office spaces and two access ramps for people with reduced mobility. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-47309-pnh-official-inauguration-of-a-new-building-at-the-southern-departmental-directorate.html

This building includes:

- The complete renovation of the units of the Departmental Judicial Police Service (SDPJ), the Juvenile Protection Brigade (BPM), the specialized services for combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and other associated services;

- A hybrid energy system comprising eight solar panels (620 W each), an installed photovoltaic capacity of 6 kW, two lithium batteries (approximately 10 kWh of storage), an 11 kW backup diesel generator, and a 1,500-gallon fuel tank;

- A water supply system with a 6,400-gallon tank (estimated autonomy of 5 days);

- Appropriate furniture and equipment.

These facilities will:

• Enable investigations to be conducted in safer and more efficient conditions;

• Ensure better care for children, whether they are victims or in conflict with the law, through the work of the Juvenile Protection Unit (BPM);

• Provide police personnel with a functional, secure, and suitable working environment, among other things.

Beyond the infrastructure, these investments contribute to strengthening the operational capabilities of the Haitian National Police (PNH) by equipping teams with the essential resources to act effectively and continuously. They are part of a broader effort to sustainably strengthen the presence and effectiveness of the police force throughout the country.
