Montreal : The FNE invites the Haitian diaspora to engage in an educational project for Haiti 20/04/2026 09:13:39
The 8th International Days of the Haitian Diaspora (JIDH 2026) was held in Montreal at the La Renaissance Convention Centre from April 17 to 19, 2026, amidst sustained momentum. For three days, this forum for reflection brought together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, united by a common goal : to identify concrete levers to support the country's transformation. As the main partner of this 8th edition, the National Education Fund (FNE) was at the heart of this mobilization, actively contributing to the discussions through a delegation led by its Director General, Elysé Colagene. The institution advocated a clear direction : to make education the foundation of sustainable transformation by systematically mobilizing the resources, skills, and expertise of the Haitian diaspora. The evidence today is that the diaspora can no longer be reduced to a mere financial contribution. It is called upon to play a more decisive role in the modernization of the Haitian education system. In his various remarks, Mr. Colagene emphasized the need to integrate this contribution into a coherent and sustainable strategy. "The challenge is not simply to mobilize the diaspora, but to place it at the heart of actions for concrete results in the education system," he stressed, calling for better coordination between public institutions, technical partners, and networks of expertise abroad. The discussions initiated at the outset of these meetings addressed key themes such as talent development, the integration of technology into learning, and skills transfer mechanisms. In these various forums, the FNE highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms capable of effectively channeling contributions toward measurable actions, thus preventing the fragmentation of initiatives. Alongside the official sessions, the FNE delegation held numerous meetings with key stakeholders, paving the way for new avenues of collaboration in the areas of training, educational innovation, and institutional strengthening.
