Haiti - Justice : Gaillot and the Advisers of the CEP, soon to justice

8 months after its formation, the Senate Commission responsible for investigating on the frauds during the last presidential election, presented its report. The Senator Youri Latortue, the Rapporteur of the Commission, stated that this report will be sent shortly to the Government Commissioner.

He explained that in the report of the Commission, Dorsinvil Gaillot, former President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), has been recognized as the primary author of numerous violations of the electoral law and all other electoral advisers are considered jointly responsible for the actions of the CEP, as they had not denounced the illegal actions of Gaillot.

The Commission requires legal action against Gaillot Dorsainvil and all advisers of the CEP "deeming founded the serious presumptions of corruption on the members of CEP" stating as charges for the advisers [and Dorsinvil] : "violation of the electoral law, crimes against the Constitution, abuse of power, electoral fraud and diversion of the popular vote." For Gaillot, in addition to the charges previously cited are added those of "corruption and violation of political rights of citizens."
