Construction of a gas station halted

On Friday, June 5, 2026, the Ouanaminthe Town Hall and representatives of the Justice system conducted an inspection at the construction site of a gas station located on Grand-Rue Espagnole in Ouanaminthe. Following on-site observations, the project was found to have failed to meet the legal and administrative requirements for such a facility, particularly regarding the risks it could pose to the environment and public safety.

Martelly summoned by the court

As part of a supplementary investigation ordered by investigating magistrate Jean Denis Cyprien to clarify certain elements of the case concerning the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html, Michel Martelly has been summoned to appear before the Investigating Chamber on June 18, 2026. Currently residing in the United States, it is unknown whether he will appear in person or be represented by his lawyers.

Two dangerous murderers killed

On the night of June 4th-5, 2026, the intervention team of the Northern Departmental Judicial Police Service conducted a major operation in Lory, an active gang base located near the town of Limonade, about fifteen kilometers southeast of downtown Cap-Haïtien. During this operation, the bandits whom the police had been actively seeking, Dan and Peterly, were apprehended. They were responsible for the assassination of Luckner Vulver, an agent of the Protected Areas Surveillance Brigade (BSAP), on April 16; the murder of Pierre-Louis Archange, whose body they burned after the crime, along with two houses and a vehicle, on May 21; and the murder of Mercéline Bochard during an armed attack targeting her husband, Germinal Wesly, on May 23. During an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement, Dan and Peterly were fatally wounded.

Official Launch of the 9th National Table Tennis Tournament

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Wilfince Mombrun, Director General of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action (MJSAC), officially launched the 9th National Team Table Tennis Tournament, held at the Puits-Blain Table Tennis Club. This competition, which brings together numerous table tennis players and enthusiasts of the sport, demonstrates the dynamism of the national sports movement and the commitment of those involved to promoting sporting excellence among Haitian youth.

The PM and the President of the CEP speak

On Friday, June 5, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and Jacques Desrosiers, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), met to plan working sessions with the Government on the main points of contention regarding the electoral decree, which was amended by the Executive without consulting the CEP and which affects relations between the two institutions. Donation of several thousand books to the DNL

The National Book Directorate (DNL) received a donation of several thousand books this week, including children's literature as well as school and university textbooks. This shipment is intended primarily for Reading Centers and Cultural Animation Center (CLAC) and the Municipal Libraries affiliated with the National Library Directorate (DNL). During the ceremony, the French Ambassador to Haiti, Antoine Michon, explained that this donation stemmed from a mobilization of Martinican citizens through the E-Caraïbes association, thus illustrating the solidarity and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
