Haiti's Prime Minister engages in dialogue with the Voodoo sector

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by Raina Forbin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, met with representatives of the Voodoo community for a dialogue focused on peace, security, and national reconciliation.

This meeting reflects the Government's commitment to increasing consultations with key stakeholders in order to consolidate national unity, restore stability, foster a climate of serenity and hope among the population, and create the necessary conditions for holding credible, inclusive, and secure elections.

Through the progressive strengthening of law enforcement capabilities, the coordination of security institutions, and the mobilization of all State resources, the Executive branch intends to address the major security challenges facing the country and to sustainably restore security throughout the national territory.

The discussions also focused on the need to promote inclusive dialogue among all sectors of Haitian society in order to strengthen social cohesion, justice, and national reconciliation. Participants emphasized the importance of placing victims at the heart of the reconstruction process and building lasting peace based on truth, accountability, and mutual respect.

Representatives of the Vodou community reaffirmed their commitment to supporting national efforts in social mediation, community outreach, and peacebuilding, in collaboration with other segments of society.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to establish a monitoring and coordination mechanism to ensure the continuity of the dialogue and the implementation of the recommendations stemming from the discussions.
