The President Michel Martelly, following to his approaches with the Panamanian authorities, was able to obtain, this Monday, Feb. 6, the formal reduction of visa fees, from 1,000 to U.S. $50 in favor of Haitian citizens...

Indeed, upon request of the Head of State, the President of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, has signed a presidential decree authorizing the immediate reduction of visa fees for Haitians. It was a sensitive issue that had not been discussed in the past with Panamanian officials.

This tax cut will help the Haitian merchants to increase their trip to Panama and facilitate at the same time, the trade between the two countries. It will also allow traders to increase their capital to buy and sell goods to increase their income.
