Haiti - Politic : Martelly to the Bahamas

After his tour in Venezuela and Panama, Tuesday evening, the President of the Republic of Haiti, Michel Martelly and his delegation traveled to the Bahamas for a short visit, on arrival at the airport of Odyssey, he was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Bahamas, Brent Symonette.

During this visit, he should make a courtesy visit to Arthur Foulkes, Governor General, Hubert Ingraham, Prime Minister, Mr Symonette, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Minister of Tourism and the aviation, Perry Christie, Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and members of the business community led by the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce.

The high-level discussions will focus on trade issues, immigration, the redevelopment of Haiti, also on security issues related to crime, traffics of people and narcotics, agriculture, more particularly the production of mangoes.

President Martelly met the Haitian community in the Bahamas, "Thank you President for the good work you started" we can read on a placard brandished by one of our compatriot in the Bahamas, while Martelly spoke before an enthusiastic crowd waving the bicolor.

Before leaving the Bahamas this Wednesday, February 8, 2012, the President Martelly will visit the Embassy of Haiti.

According to our information the President and his delegation would then travel to Curacao before returning to Haiti on Thursday evening.
