Haiti - Health : High Level Bilateral Meeting in Port-au-Prince

A high-level bilateral meeting between the Dominican Republic and Haiti will be held in Port-au-Prince today and tomorrow, Tuesday, March 13, 2012, on issues related to epidemiological controls.

The Dominican Republic and Haiti share the same island, which requires the need to ensure immigration controls and enforcement of strict vaccination program to protect the people of both countries face to various types of diseases. For several years Haiti and the neighboring Republic, develop and coordinate joint actions of control and monitoring.

Dr. Bautista Rojas Gómez, the Minister of Health of Dominica Dominican Republic will lead the meeting in collaboration with Dr. Florence Guillaume, the Haitian Minister of Health and representatives of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), several health experts from both countries will participate in this bilateral meeting.

The activity will have for objectives to identify the priority public health issues common to both nations, the study of methods of intervention, including the mobilization of resources : Political, technical and human resources, and secondly to develop a roadmap for control and the elimination of cholera.
