Haiti - Security : The ancient bases of former FADH still occupied 13/03/2012 13:41:52
4 days before the expiration of the period of 15 days, given by Thierry Mayard-Paul, the Minister of Interior, of Territorial Collectivities and National Defense, to the armed men and other former soldiers demobilized of former Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), to lay down arms and leave the area illegally occupied, nothing has changed. The former bases are always occupied and men in military fatigues continue to train. According to some information, far from preparing to depart, their numbers would have be enhanced. The former sergeant, Jean Baptiste Joseph National Spokesperson of demobilized soldiers recalled that the Chief of State was also the nominal head of the army "we must obey him, we no longer go out in military fatigues and armed as he ordered, but we do not have to go back home, because we are already there, the camp of application is our home" The occupants say they are in their right to be where they are and even some young people consider themselves, as the first elements of the new armed force to come... hey consider that when the President Martelly, evokes the withdrawal of the camps, it is under the r pressure from some members of his entourage, hostile to the remobilization of FAd'H, that he reacts like this. Despite a Senate resolution calling the authorities to make evacuate these illegal training camps; despite the appeal of Mariano Fernandez, Chief Civil of the Minustah, who had recently asked the Haitian authorities to move from words to action and despite the meeting of Head of State with the Minustah, to inform them of the measures that the government would take to end these occupations, nothing has been done. More than one wonders today, what force can dislodge these men in fatigues that would better armed than our National Police... Some information suggests that the former soldiers demobilized estimates to 15 million U.S. dollars the amount of financial compensation to have been dismissed illegally and without pay for 18 years...
