The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe participated, Wednesday, May 16, to the Prime Minister office, at the signing ceremony of a grant of 10,000 wheelchairs offered by Walkabout Foundation to the benefit of people with special needs in Haiti.

The ceremony was held in the presence among others of Gérald Oriol Jr., Secretary of State for the Integration of Disabled Persons, Ms. Carolina Gonzalez Bunster, Walkabout Founder and responsible of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB).

The Chief of Government thanked the Foundation Walkabout for this tremendous gesture for the disabled and reaffirmed the commitment of President Martelly and his own, to defend the interests of these vulnerable groups of the society "the President Martelly pledged to govern on behalf of an entire people. My government will work tirelessly to ensure equal rights and opportunities for each and every one of you."

Moreover, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to greet a first victory in the fight against discrimination of disabled people, following the vote by the Parliament, of the law proposed by the Secretary of State for the integration of disabled persons and the associations concerned of the civil society "Mr. Secretary of State Oriol, you who have never stopped to fight against injustice and discrimination, on the national and international scene, I want to congratulate you for your unconditional work for the integration of our citizens which until then had experienced discrimination. I want to reiterate the support and commitment of my government in your task, so important to make our society more just and equitable."
