Haiti - Culture : Census and survey on the functioning of libraries 20/07/2012 14:18:10
The National Directorate of the Book (DNL) conducted this week to the launch the second phase of a survey on the census and functioning of libraries of the state and non-state throughout the country. "This survey aims to assess the working conditions of various libraries in the country, the quality of their service and then assist technically and financially to those in difficulties," explained Frantz Carly Jean Michel, Director of the DNL. "It will be to evaluate their documentary fund, inventory human resources, identify the services offered by each library, and classify them according to the clients served. The first phase of the survey, which took place between 2 and 16 July 2010, identified 98 libraries in the country, whose 73 non-state and 25 state," added Daniel Bertrand, Survey Coordinator. An envelope of 1 million gourdes is available for the conduct of this survey, which began July 2 and will end on September 16 with publication of the report. This survey is part of efforts to define a policy and also to the implementation of a hundred Centers for reading and cultural activities (CLAC) throughout the country by 2015 is at least one library by commune.
