Chaired by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, two days of conferences on tourism investment [from 20 to 21 July 2012], were launched Friday at the tourist port of Jacmel. This activity, an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and its departmental office of South-East, will bring together : of representatives of the Town Hall, of Public Works, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South East, of the Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH), operators and managers of local hotel .

According to the Minister, this strategic activity, will allow to inform the actors concerned of the Government's plan for the infrastructure development of Jacmel, intended to make of this region a true tourist destination "An envelope of approximately U.S. $ 40 million is available for this project," recalled Stéphanie Villedrouin.

The Minister declared that many projects will be carried through the city of Jacmel, and that work should begin in the second week of August 2012, including the reconstruction of the hotel "La Jacmelienne".

Ms. Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, said the premises of customs of Jacmel, will be transformed into a Convention Center. She also spoke of the improvement of the Rue du Commerce and that of Saint-Anne nicknamed tourist area of ​​Jacmel, of the construction of a 800-seat amphitheater and of the onstruction of the international airport of the city very soon. The Minister invited the operators and the private business sector, to bring to heel, while reiterating the Government's willingness to support them.

In his speech, Pierre Chauvet, President of the ATH, said said he sees a political will of the Government for tourism development. According to him, to achieve real development of the tourism sector in the country, there are key aspects to be considered such as accessibility and transportation of tourists to the tourist sites, restaurants, accommodation and recreation. All this is, for Me Chauvet, of links of a chain, that will lead to tourism development in Haiti.

Note that during this two days, several speakers should make presentation in their respective fields of activity, linked to the tourism sector.
