Haiti - Health : New Health Center in Capotille

Dr Florence D. Guillaume, the Minister of Public Health and Population (MSPP), has recently inaugurated a brand new Health Centre in Capotille, town located 17 km south of Ouanaminthe.

Clearly pleased with the new building, the Minister Guillaume declared that we all have a lesson to draw from this realization made ​​with only $8 million Gourdes "It is a pride for Capotille and its suburbs, because you will not be forced to cross into Dominican Republic to find care [...]" recalling this realization responded to the "[...] wish of President Martelly, of Prime Minister Lamothe and of the First Lady of the Republic Sophia Martelly, to provide each communal section of the country of a health facility for the welfare of the population."

Already equipped with equipment meeting the standards of MSPP, the new Health Centre will receive additional materials and equipment and other health professionals will be added to those already employed in order to provide better service to the population indicated the Minister.

Congressman Ronald Larèche, one of the instigators of the project, was pleased to have participated in "a lasting work that will serve a population of about 18.000 inhabitants," and hoped that the Ministry of Health also sets up health center in the other seven communes of the Northeast.

For his part, the Senator Jean Baptiste Bien-Aimé, commended the Government Martelly-Lamothe for having materialized a so important project [launched 2 years ago under the Préval government] for the benefit of the population of Capotille.

David Jean-Baptiste, the Mayor of the municipality, said that this achievement reflected the Government's willingness to work to improve the health of the people Capotillais.

Moreover, in a separate ceremony, the Minister of Health carried out the laying of the foundation stone of the future Sanitary Departmental Directorate of North East at the entrance to the city of Fort-Liberté. Work should start soon and be completed by March 2013.

After these ceremonies, the Minister Guillaume, accompanied by Mr. Uder Antoine, General Coordinator of the Office of Human Resources Management (OMRH) and other executives of the Ministry, visited the hospital of Fort-Liberté "[...] a health care facility in poor condition and that does not work," according to the Minister who promised to rebuild the hospital on another site.
