Haiti - Social : Two new cultural events before the end of summer

Jean Mario Dupuy, the Minister of Culture announced on Thursday, that after the Carnival of Flowers the Ministry planned the realization of two new cultural events before the end of summer.

The first concerns 24 hours of festivities devoted to DJ (Disc jockeys), which were excluded from the last two carnivals organized this year in Haiti. This event should take place the last Sunday before school starts [announcement made before the change of date for the back to school].

The second event is a National Festival of Troubadour and a contest, on the whole territory in order to promote this traditional form of musical expression, in the Haitian culture. The terms of participation, the exact date and location of the festival, will be released shortly. According to the Minister "This activity will allow artists to live of their work [...]"

For his part, the President Michel Martelly, who sees in the organization of these popular events, a way to attract more tourists in Haiti and a way to generate revenue, among others for small businesses, announces that a Standing committee will be established soon, in order to deal with the cultural events, that will be held on a regular basis.
